Ted Barrett’s initiation into the world of electrical practice was not promising. As a fifteen year old apprentice he was sent under the floor of a Chinese restaurant pulling a drum of cable.
Undeterred he was impressed by the ability of instructors at college to communicate knowledge and the seed of an interest in training was sown. Ted was driven by a long standing desire to understand how things work so whenever and wherever the opportunity arose he sought new experiences and further training. In the early 90’s this led to completing an adult education teaching course.
In 2004 he raised his game by going full time at the College, designing and delivering electrical courses primarily for apprentices. Within a year he was running the department where he had originally trained as an apprentice.
After going freelance in 2012 Ted joined Tinson Training in 2014 attracted by the the opportunity to work with a variety of clients and teaching in their working environment. He found that training attendees amongst their equipment rather than a sterile teaching venue made a huge difference to the relevance and impact of what he was teaching.
